Hello! I am an ethnomusicologist - I research, write and teach about music, dance and other forms of expressive culture in the lives of individuals and communities.
In this blog, I will provide a log of my activities as I journey through the remaining 8 months of my postdoctoral research fellowship by sharing some of the efforts and adventures related to my work. I hope to reach out to many of the people with whom I conduct research in various regions of North America and abroad, as well as students, researchers and colleagues at the many institutions with whom I collaborate in different ways.
I invite you to join me on this journey! I also look forward to hearing from you - about what you find most interesting in what I write, if you have questions, or if you want to let me know something you think I should know about.

dr. marcia - i was very impressed by your ability to connect with the community of Sydney, Nova Scotia to assemble your fascinating exhibition of Ukrainian dance at the CBU Art Gallery this summer...so will be equally interested in following your adventures as you chronicle your further research for additional projects related to ethnomusicology (especially ref. Ukrainian dance&music). Congratulations on launching your blog - your reputation as The Human Cyclone precedes you!
ReplyDeleteI too have always admired your ability to connect with community. I am always interested in knowing exactly *how* you connect. How do you make contacts? How do you introduce yourself? How do you plan and execute interviews? What is it that makes community members so interested in your projects?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your blog! I'll be interested to follow your progress!
